Former Prime Minister Aníbal Cavaco Silva warned this Wednesday, November 5, that “it is impossible” to govern “without failures and errors”, but argued that, even if failure is human, the mistakes made “cannot be hidden”.
Former Prime Minister and President of the Republic Aníbal Cavaco Silva spoke at the tribute, at the official residence of São Bento, which marks 40 years since his first inauguration as head of the Government, on November 6, 1985.
“One thing is theory, another is political practice. No matter how hard a government works and makes an effort, it is impossible to avoid failures and mistakes. As I usually say ‘nobody is perfect’ [ninguém é perfeito]. In politics, mistakes made by a Government, even if they are human, cannot be hidden and, sometimes, mistakes are even invented to make the news loudly”, he stated.
