A MODERN-day Bonnie and Clyde have been caught getting intimate at a popular restaurant – before shamelessly robbing the joint.
CCTV footage captured the couple getting steamy by the Arizona eatery before making off with hundreds of dollars in cash, liquor, and a phone.
A clip shows a hooded man and woman arriving at the restaurant before brazenly kneeling among the outdoor shrubbery and having sex.
The pair then reportedly cemented the deed with a heist – nicking $450, an iPhone 5, and a bottle of Bacardi rum from the romantic, rose-adorned restaurant.
Scottsdale Police soon launched an investigation into the bizarre theft, which took place at around 3:50am on Saturday at Mon Cherie restaurant in Scottsdale.
Authorities were alerted to the incident later that morning, after employees noticed two doors were damaged.
While the suspects have not yet been identified, their on-cam romping has provided clear footage of their faces, cops said.
Owner Lexi Caliskan joked the theft “was kind of romantic” likening the pair to the infamous robbers Bonnie and Clyde.
She told ABC15 Arizona: “They got caught in the moment, there’s roses everywhere, maybe it was kind of romantic, but modern-day Bonnie and Clyde.
“The first thing I noticed was that the whole stand was totally, like, torn apart. There was things all over.”
She added that perhaps the restaurant’s romantic decor was to blame for the couple’s steamy antics.
The eatery, located near First Avenue and Goldwater Boulevard, is a popular bachelorette party and date-night destination.
Its floral decor and pink pasta have made it one of the city’s most photographed restaurants.
Despite finding some humour in the incident, staff revealed they still felt “violated” – calling the ordeal “disturbing”.
Waitress Caitlyn Sorensen fumed: “It’s such a happy and positive place, so the fact that they did that on our establishment is just so disturbing.
“Like this isn’t the place for it. Yes, we’re full of romance and happiness, but that’s not what we’re wanting here,.
The restaurant remains open for service.
DOUBLE THREAT
It’s not the first time cops have been on the hunt for a thieving couple.
In 2020, police launched a search for a British couple who were thought to have swindled at least a dozen pubs and restaurants over the last 10 months.
The tricksters used the same ruse each time.
