Sardesai said he was diagnosed with cancer six months ago and later underwent surgery. After he shared his recovery story in a vlog in October, he received an unexpected call during Diwali days. He recalled, “I had cancer 6 months ago. Then I had surgery. After that in October, I made a video vlog about my surgery and shared my story in front of people. I got a call at the time of Diwali. Namaskar… I will talk to the Prime Minister.”

He said the call came without any prior message or intimation.
The advice PM Modi gave
According to Sardesai, the Prime Minister spent the call offering him health guidance and lifestyle suggestions. He said, “Modi ji talked to me for an hour and a half and kept telling me what should be done. What kind of life should I live. Get up in the morning. Take a bath with cold water. He is constantly asking who has a birthday, who has had cancer surgery? In politics, you have to have a doctor accompanying everyone.”

Sardesai added that the two have known each other since the 1990s, long before Modi became Prime Minister.
Not a political move, Sardesai says
When asked whether the Prime Minister did this to win his vote, Sardesai dismissed the idea. He said, “No, this is for voting.” He added that the relationship between a journalist and a political leader often spans decades and is not driven by elections. “They didn’t need to call me but they did.”
Rajdeep’s family impressed by PM Modi
Sardesai revealed that his sister, who lives in Singapore, happened to be visiting him when the call came. She and her children were impressed by the gesture. He said, “Meri behen aur bachche Pradhan Mantri Modi ki tareef karte hain.”
His family, he added, told him that this is what they expect from a leader, someone who checks on people beyond political lines.
