Dr. Tom Patterson, chief of infectious diseases at UT Health San Antonio, spoke to the KSAT 12 audience regarding President Trump’s fight against COVID-19. The interview focused on the President receiving the anti-viral drug remdesivir, which the FDA has granted emergency authorization. Dr. Patterson discussed the indications of when remdesivir would be administered, its side effects and what more is known about COVID’s response to remdesivir since clinical trials of the drug began in March. Dr. Patterson is leading one of the study sites, based at UT Health San Antonio with University Health System.
