A BRITISH tourist has been found dead on the Belize island of Caye Caulker just one day after checking into his hotel for what was meant to be a dream holiday.
The 52-year-old man had arrived on the island on Monday and checked into the Casa Vista Hotel.
Less than 24 hours later, neighbours reported hearing a loud thud outside the accommodation.
When they rushed to investigate, they found the man lying unconscious on the ground.
He was quickly taken to the Caye Caulker Health Center.
Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
Local police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Officer Stacy Smith said: “On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, police officers attached to the Caye Caulker formation visited the Caye Caulker Health Clinic as a consequence of a report made of an unconscious male person therein.
“He succumbed to injuries that were observed on his body later that evening.
“What we have been able to ascertain so far is that several persons in the area heard a sound, and upon making inquiries, they observed him on the ground and subsequently rushed him to the clinic for treatment.”
Authorities have not yet confirmed how the man sustained his injuries.
The tragedy comes just days after another British man was found dead off the coast of Malta.
This came two days after his 11-year-old son drowned while they were swimming during a family holiday.
The 37-year-old father’s body was recovered following an extensive search involving Maltese police, the armed forces and local rescue teams.
His son had earlier been pulled from the water at Ramla Bay after getting into difficulty.
The boy’s mother witnessed both incidents unfold.
She was on the beach with their two younger children.
Earlier this month, a British woman died after falling ill on the “trip of a lifetime” with her family.
Elena Walsh, 64, was staying at a five star resort in Cape Verde to celebrate he husband’s 60th birthday and her son’s engagement
